We held the Miami Leadership Summit on March 2, 2018 in collaboration with former American Bar Foundation President Stephen Zack and Luis Suarez of Boies, Schiller, and Flexner. The convening brought together leading scholars, legal practitioners, and media representatives in the Miami area to explore key areas of opportunity through educational innovation, broadcasting, and a vibrant economy.
As part of this event, we asked keynote speakers to prepare presentations on:
1. History of Latinos in the Region
This white paper focuses on the history of the diversity and subsequent social inequality of the latino presence in the Miami region. The white paper was authored by Professor Alejandro Portes (University of Miami).
This demographic profile of Cuban-Americans in Miami provides a statistical snapshot of the shifts and ideological changes spanning 1997-2017. The presentation was provided by Professor Guillermo Grenier (Florida International University).
